2026 Large Ensemble Assessment Schedules
To make this process easier for you, here is a checklist:
Teacher Checklist for Festival
>Are you a current member of LMEA? Does the District Director have a copy of your card?
>Choose 1 piece off of LA Prescribed Music List (found on state website) that corresponds with your ensemble’s level.
>FILL OUT THE GOOGLE FORM above. (Yes! It is editable!)
>Don’t panic over song list. You can update it up to the week before Festival.
>Make sure that you have 3 original scores for each piece.
>Number your measures.
>Mark calendar for DEADLINE DATE in order to get your check in the mail on time.
>Fill out a Registration Form for each ensemble.
>Complete a PO form for the Registration fee AND $25 per ensemble for the Recording fee and turn into your Bookkeeper. Attach your Registration Form(s) to the PO, but make yourself a copy, first.
>Email a copy of your check to lmeadistrictviii@gmail.com.
>Mail check (with recording fee included) to be postmarked by the DEADLINE DATE listed above. Add $100 per group if mailed after this date. (Email a picture of your check to lmeadistrictviii@gmail.com)
>Be checking your school email for a receipt from LMEA District VIII.
>Be checking your school email for Schedule which is usually published the week after registration deadline.
>Turn in paperwork for Professional Leave and find a substitute, if needed.
>Request buses.
DUE DATES
- Registration CHECKS are due Feb. 6, 2026 in order to get schedules done and published for “1 month prior” bus requests and professional leave forms.
- Complete the Google Form below ASAP! ⤵
- Use the Registration Form found on the website to request your school check made out to LMEA District VIII. PLEASE INCLUDE $25 recording fee per ensemble.
- Keep the paper registration form for your records.
- Send a PICTURE OF YOUR CHECK to lmeadistrictviii@gmail.com before mailing!
- Mail ALL checks to : LMEA District VIII, 8105 Colquitt Road, Keithville, LA 71047
- Special Requests will be considered IF received ON THE REGISTRATION FORM! (Requests made via email, phone calls, text messages, carrier pigeon are very difficult to keep up with!)
- Each large ensemble entry must be on a separate entry form. Entries for multiple groups from one teacher in one school may send one check. Please MARK CLEARLY for choir, band, orchestra.
- All Directors bringing an ensemble to Festival must be a current member of LMEA or they must pay the $150.00 non-member fee.
- Recording Fee of $25 per ensemble must be added to the check amount.

Copyright Permissions for Performance
Important information related to copyright laws has been compiled and prepared jointly by NFHS and NAfME
Scores
- Directors of large ensembles must provide three original scores of each selection for the adjudicators. These scores must have each measure numbered.
- Duplicated scores will be accepted only if accompanied by written permission from the copyright owner. Directors with illegal material will not be allowed to participate.
- Directors with no scores will not be allowed to perform for a rating.
